Keep in mind: 1) These are my first pair of basketball shoes, 2) I'm not comparing them to anything, 3) I'm very Adidas biased (love those shell toes, stan smiths), 4) I got them on sale for ~$40 (GO EBAY!) and 5) Everybody's feet are different and shoes are different once broken in, that's why if you find a shoe that feels good once worn in, you are in a good position. With the all new MATE X, go ahead and venture off the beaten path. They really are comfortable and functional basketball shoes. I popped a vessel or something in my toe (a little internal bleeding on my big toe) the first time I played in them (considering I ran hard for maybe 4 hours and I hadn't broken the shoes in, that's not surprising) but after that the shoes felt fine and so did my feet. I don't jump around a whole lot, I like to drive and dish a lot so I can't speak extensively about the cushioning. The traction was a crazy improvement, the movement was a lot easier and I found myself running much easier. I noticed a huge difference between playing in these and regular tennis shoes. I do have a slightly off form (I don't square up my feet, I kind of point my right foot straight at the hoop and my left one off at an angle) so it was kind of awkward but I got used to it really quick.Īfter playing in games, boy did I notice a huge improvement, now I know why people get basketball specific shoes. I didn't play games at first but I just shot around and tried to break the shoes in, so I didn't get a chance to test the traction and movement yet.Īs for shooting, I shot free throws at first and had to get used to the balance. With the Adidas, T-MAC 3 being my first real pair of actual basketball shoes, I didn't know what to expect and you should take my words lightly.Īt first fit, I really liked the shoes, they fit snugly and tightly like a glove to the feet. ![]()
